    Help - Hello World

I am trying to write hello world, but Apple's intro to the project builder is too complicated for me to do anything but follow right now. I have a book on C, and I just want to go through the book, but I need a compiler and an interface. I have used the gcc compiler, but I don't know how to...

    starting C - command line

I am trying to learn C with OS X. I got a great book from O'Reilly (Practical C 3rd Edition) and the Cocoa book Apple put out through them as soon as it ships. But I can't get my helloworld.c to execute after compiling using %cc -g -ohello hello.c -- nor can I get any output out of the IDE...

    You gotta be kidding

I do technical support over the phone, and I deal with people who have never really owned a computer before. You'd be surprised how much they DON"T want to know. All they care is point me to this and that, teach me just this one thing, and ONLY this one thing. techoncall has completely...

    No "Public Update".....

Maybe Apple has feedback, and they know that certain issues weren't fixed, and rather than have 2 million people submit feedback forms reguarding fixes they left out... they opted to only let developers get there hands on the fundamentally important updates that the consumer probably wouldn't...

    Aargh my eyes !

I haven't looked at colorsync, so I could be wrong... but I couldn't find a way to adjust the verticale/horizontal position and size. I am using a Rev B iMac, and wanted to adjust the display, but resolution seems to be the only control!.

    A Centered Menu Bar

I think that one of the things I learned in ELEMENTARY school ard is that initially centered looks natual, but in reality, things hardly are. If you want realism, or people to feel comfortable or at home, things need to be slightly askew. I am not indicating apple deliberately off-center...

    Sleep / Doc items

This may be a new OS, but Apple tried to keep stuff the same. To create a new folder it's [command /apple] [N] like in OS 6.x-9.x- or file new folder. to sleep its the power key on your keyboard and then [S] To remove items from the Dock, you just drag them off the dock and let go...

    Optical Mouse

I bought a Kensington optical and hated it... but the light on it would go to sleep after about 5-10 seconds of inactivity. So it took a while to get used to moving the mouse and not having it respond for a second. I took it back and got a Logitech... Using it under windows (YUK!) but I don't...

    Dock contextual

I work on Windows all day... I use many browser windows and open programs and windows as I move around. I like being able to [Right Click]on the window or program in the dock and choose close. I don't have to wait for the window to draw, and it still prompts me to save! I love this feature...

    speeding up OS X

on my Little iMac- (Rev.B) it takes a long time (relative) to sort through permissions [says it's checking permissions for like 30 sec.! very annoying] when I open any settings... I think it's because it loads the permissions list every time you go somewhere new. If you go back, they come up...

    Modem on iMac rev.b

Just an FYI: I am using a bondi blue iMac- rev.B. When I tried both the Apple Internal 56k and Apple Internal v.34 modem... my computer couldn't find the modem. I then submitted a bug report after rebooting in classic. Realized I didn't try any other modems... so I booted back into X, and...
