The modified dates on the word documents (about six hundred of them) got corrupted when I backed up the dying old hard drive. After installing the new hard drive and transfering the old files to the new drive, I noticed that the dates modified and dates created went off by 2 years 4 months and...
I have read an article here a while back but cannot get back to it.
The problem I have is that the display of my powerbook g3 becomes dark and I have to press brightness to get it back right when I am logging into the system.
How do i change that?
I use OS 9 to backup too. But as a secondary backup only. I burn my data on a cd before doing this stuff. :-) I know I do not need do it.
Anyway thanks for your help.
My Powerbook does not boot to OS9 when I have OS9 on a different partition. When I drag the system folder from OS9...
No. I have not moved any OSX folders to OS 9. But the ownership information on OS9 tells me that I am the owner.
I am sorry. I did "Ignore Ownership". I forgot to mention that.
Thanks a lot.
Anyway, what is the use of "system" in ownership?
My problem is I have two partitions.
OS X on one and OS 9 on the other.
I have applications on OS 9 that need to be used by all the users.
I changed the ownership of the entire partition to "system" instead of "Me" and it seems to be working.
Am i doing it right?;)
I have been having the same problem. I started up in OS9 (which required me to move my OS9 system folder onto the same partition as X - just wouldn't use it from the other partition!) and ran disk first aid which said that all seemed fine, then started back in X and the problem had gone
I would like the other users of my system who are not administrators have access to the applications on my system.
If I want to give access to them, what do I select from Get-Info -> Ownership&Permissions.
I have selected system. Is that fine?
My PowerBook G3 has no firewire. It is 267 MHz.
The BootRom Info shows that it is 2.0.1 version.
Is that the latest one? Do I need to install another version firmware?thanlks
I have X.2 and 9.2 on two different partitions. After booting to OS X, I change the startup disk to 9.2. But when I restart the computer, I see the happy mac and then a blank screen and then OS X startsup.
What is up with my system?
Thank you
my powerbook boot rom version is 3.10.x
Should i upgrade to the latest bios version?
I have both os x.2 and 9.2
I need to boot to 9.2 and upgrade the firmware. am i right ?
Is there any danger of incorrect firmware flashing? would my powerbook tell me if the firmware version is wrong/faulty?
Also,
the partitions on my hard drive are as follows:
13GB - Macos X.2 and 9.2.2
2GB - OS 9.2.2
5GB - Data
Is that an optimal partition? what do u guys think?
Thank you for all the replies. I am going to archive and install the OS. If the problem still exists, I will try each of these operations. Thanks again
