I'm having the same problem. I've had success booting into safe mode by holding down the shift key at the chime on start up until you see a gray apple. I' still working on it.

Hey guys, maybe you can help me out. I got my Powerbook a few months ago and the ti painted portion above the cd slot seems loose and can be depressed under slight wrist or finger pressure. how can i fix this? it's bugging the crap out of me! Thanks, D
