    Kernel Panic on Classic Startup

Yes, it does work with extensions disabled. In fact it now works as normal. Just kept trying it until it gave up panicking and worked. No rhyme or reason to it. -Colin

    Kernel Panic on Classic Startup

My Mac won't start classic! The progress bar gets near the end and then the screen darkens and the 4-language "restart your computer" comes up which is a Kernel Panic right? Classic will start with the "no extensions" option but doesn't run everything without extensions and I have no idea...

    Mac Browser Extensions

Hello, Whilst customizing my home copy of Phoenix I came across extensions - http://texturizer.net/phoenix/extensions.html Some of these (especially Checky) would be really useful to me on my work Mac, question is do any of the Mac browsers support extensions and is there one like Checky...

    Stupid GoLive 6 question

I don't use GoLive FTP but 6 is definitely my least stable X application, even with the 6.0.1 upgrade. I had a replicable crash involving copying and pasting between documents - dual g4 867 and 512mb with only GoLive 6 open and it quit every time I tried to copy the contents of a page onto...

    10.2.2 question

If I update to 10.2.2 is this going to mean reinstalling PHP / MySQL? The update info mentions an Apache upgrade so it made me wonder. Cheers, -Colin

    Stupid GoLive 6 question

To do this through the GoLive interface go to the icon that looks like steps at the top-right of a document and is called "CSS editor" or something similar. If you want to apply this to more than one page you'll probably want an external stylesheet. (File > New Special > Cascading Style...

    Disk utilities / antivirus

Location: Norwich eh. That be where I be :) I think you've got it with "peace of mind". Norton Systemworks upgrade is about £60 so I think it will be purchased for unerase if nothing else because I'm far more of a threat to my files than any virus. Cheers -Colin

    Perl 5.8.0 / Sendmail

My group turned out to be "www". I chown'd and chmod'd but it still doesn't want to know :) I think, as someone pointed out, I really don't have a clue what I'm doing here. Think I will leave it for now before I start tearing hair out. What I really need is a nice package where I can...

    Perl 5.8.0 / Sendmail

...but I don't have any sysadmin / filesystem needs :) Anyhow, I tried again to get it running out of curiosity, and here is my transcript: [colin:~] colinrichardson% cd /Library/WebServer/devsites/niag/cgi-bin [colin:devsites/niag/cgi-bin] colinrichardson% chown colinrichardson:apache...

    Disk utilities / antivirus

Are things like Norton Utilities / Antivirus worth investing in for OS X (10.2)? I have never seen a Mac virus in the 4 years I have worked on one (OS 8.5 and onwards) so I'm not overly concerned about it but wondered if it might be worth it with X as Macs seem to be getting a bit more...

    Perl 5.8.0 / Sendmail

Thanks for the reply. I tried it and it now recognises the .pl extension but says I don't have permission. However, I have also decided I don't want to learn perl anyway :) Thankyou -Colin

    Perl 5.8.0 / Sendmail

Hi, I want to try and learn something about Perl but can't seem to get it running on my Mac (OS 10.2). Its the installation that the machine came with if that makes a difference. I installed the 5.8.0 package from www.serverlogistics.com but when I try a perl file (eg...
