Hi, first I'd like to apologise if I don't understand some technical terms as I'm not very familiar with them.
I am using a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8, with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 of Memory. My startup disk is supposed to be able to contain a maximum of 232.57GB, however I have recently started getting error messages that all 232.57GB worth of space have been used up. When I tried to "Get Info" from all the folders within "Macintosh HD" (Applications, Library, System, User Guides and Information, Users), the amount of space used by all of them together add up to only 73.72GB. I'm clearly not using as much space as the state of my startup disk seems to suggest.
I have read a couple forum threads on the topic, but none of the solutions presented seems to work for me, either because I don't have the space to download the software mentioned or because I don't understand the instructions. However, I have come to the conclusion that there must be some sort of file or software installed that is rapidly eating away at the space.
I have recently installed IMCapture for Skype, which helps me record video calls. When I first got the error message saying that I have 0KB available, I checked on my disk and found that the files used by IMCapture to save conversations were taking up a crazy amount of space (enough to justify 0KB left), and seeing that I was using IMCapture at that very moment to record another conversation, it made sense that all my space could have been used up. However, after deleting these files, I noticed that only about 3GB worth of space had been returned to me, and the next day when I checked, I had 0kb left yet again.
I'm not sure if IMCapture is the problem, but it seemed to have a connection. If possible I do not wish to delete this program, seeing as I paid USD50 for it.
Any help would be very, very much appreciated. Thank you!
