10.1.2 failed to install.... but it did

Near the end of the 10.1.2 install I got a dialog box that said that the install did not complete and to save the Software Update entry to my hard drive. So I did. It showed up with the package icon, but was an actual folder in Finder. Things were acting weird, so I restarted. Now About This Mac says 10.1.2. Where would a log be to tell me exactly what happened? The installer package is now an installer file, so I ran it and it installed to completion.
