10.1 & 8.6 sharing

i'm running 10.1. my dad's running 8.6 is there any way we can share files between our computers easily & hassle-free? i also have an external fw disk that he needs access to. are there any apps anyone knows of that can make this easy????

If you're in the same house, just use Ethernet - upgrade yours to 10.2 first tho - makes networking a lot easier.
