10.4.8 and airport problems

I have a 4mo.-old MacBook Pro (15", 1.0, 2.16GHz). I recently installed the recommended SMC firmware update and the 10.4.8 system update and began having problems with my wireless connectivity shortly thereafter.

I regularly use a number of different wireless networks, one at home, at work, various open networks at local businesses, etc. All are still operating normally except the one I use at my office. There, the wireless network is set up using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I did log on and used the network successfully at least once since installing the updates, but then (it may have been after it first went to sleep) I lost the connection and now cannot get the airport on my MacBook to even see the network in question. Similar problems before have been fixable via rebooting the router and modem and then restarting my MacBook, but no such luck this time after multiple tries. Other PCs (I'm the only Mac) here in the office haven't experienced any glitch at all.

After checking around, it seems that lots of folks are having similar problems w/airport after the 10.4.8 install. One thing I thought I might try was hitting the reset button on the Linksys, but was hesitant because I wasn't sure if this might cause everyone else here to have to re-do their wireless set-up all over again - simply exacerbating and expanding the problem.

Any ideas?
