12" AlBook hinge sticking/noise

My wife's 12" PowerBook's hinge seems to be sticking. It makes a horrible cracking sound whenever she adjusts the screen. It doesn't actually seem to be that tight, like it's really binding up, but it definitely isn't right.

Any insights on this? Common? Easy fixes? She's got Applecare so no problem getting it fixed - except being without it for a while.
