As with most things in life, it costs money to run this website. In early 2003 we had a "site offline" fund raiser, which although wasn't popular in implementation, was significantly more successful in raising funds than just posting a donation link.
This would happen in mid Feb 2004 sometime. We would shutdown the site until our funds where raised. Unlike 2003 we would state the amount we are raising ($3600) and a live indicator of how much has been raised. We would stay off-line for three days or until all the money was raised, whichever comes earlier. Those who contribute will have immediate access to the site, including those who contributed in 2003.
Last year, one or more individuals stated, "Why didn't you give us a chance to raise the funds before shutting down the site?" This year, I am going to do this. Starting in early January, you will be able to make contributions to this website. If we raise the necessary funds by mid Feb when the scheduled Share-a-thon is, we will obviously not have it.
