54g wireless connectivity?

Has anyone seen drivers, or cards with drivers, that enable 54g on a Mac yet. Every manufacturer seems to be offering 54g, but I've not seen any indication that there's a pc card that will work in laptops like a Lombard or Wallstreet that aren't Airport enabled.
I bought a router and card - the router will work with my laptop's Orinoco card at 11 but not at 54. The card worked fine in a friend's Sony laptop.
Why is writing a Mac driver such a bear?

It's not so much that it's a bear, it's just finding someone to do it. The problem is that since Apple sells 'g' products, the vast majority of Apple users buy the Apple product. The only ones left are goofballs like Wallstreet/Lombard users. There are only a few Mac laptops that have cardbus but are not airport ready. So that means that the only chance you have of someone caring is if some developer out there happens to run this config and they are willing to take the time to write the driver (i.e. they have more time than money ;) )

I feel your pain. I have an 802.11a setup at home that my Pismo can't play in because no one makes a driver for ANY 'a' cards :(
