8 Gb Disk error instaling OS X in G3 PowerMac...

I was instaling OS X in my G3 with new hard disk, I formated the hard disk in MAC Os extended format, when I seleted the destination disk I got this message


The OS X requiered 1.9 GB for instalation.

The can´t install because the the destination ... without in the first 8 GB of the disk.

What i did wrong?
 
You have to partition your disk. Make the first partition 8GB or less, then OS X will install on it.
 
To clarify that:

Some older machines are only able to boot from partitions in the first 8gb of the disk. It is a firmware issue and generally isn't a problem.

You need to use the disk utility to create a partition of up to 8gb, and a seperate partition for the rest of your data. You then install Mac OS X on the first partition. I'd recommend a size of about 6 or 7 gig as this will leave room for Apps and home directory on your first partition, saving you a lot of messing around.

To access Disk Utility, boot from the Mac OS X install CD and, when the installer window appears, select "Installer" - "Disk Utility" from the menu at the top of screen.
