"._" files on network drive (smb, nfs)

hi,

i am using nfs and samba (smb) to acces files on some file servers. whenever i write a file to the server another file has being created in the same directoy with the same name and the prefix "._". it looks like a old recource file (like the one created by ethershare in the ".rsrc" or ".AppleDouble" folder), which is not in use anymore. when you copy it back to mac os x, it only copies the original file back...

is there anyway to prevent this file creation without setting up a cronjob or some fency thing?

thnx...

i hate these things.

apple needs to clear that crap up. no network admin is going to let OSX boxes clutter up the network with these useless files.

even if there is no real harm done, this is just ridiculous

apples history of network functions, features or performance was always the worst.

if apple is not capable of doing this, maybe some linux or solaris programs have a feature to block the resource fork. is it possible to setup a filter with samba or nfs, so mac os x cannot write those files???
