From a web development point of view, are there any major backward compatibility issues with Safari 1.2?

Can multiple versions of Safari (1.1 & 1.2) be installed on the same Mac?

Do Safari 1.1 & lower support SSL & 128-bit encryption?

Can anyone suggest good resources/primers on the Web to get upto speed with Mac OS X
