A good review of Apple kit...

And a very OLD one, too, btw. If you want to get REAL warm and fuzzy, you can try and find reviews of the original TiBook by googling, too. ;-)

That guy has something wrong with his power management system. The point of the G5's having 8/9 fans is that they are very quiet unless not being controlled correctly, in which case they go full blast. It shouldn't sound like a hairdryer, but more like hair drying in the air. :)

I was thinking the same. Maybe he took the review G5 on holiday with him to Tunisia? Or maybe he couldn't cancel his sauna session so he combined the two?

I don't really go looking for mac reviews, I seem to find them as a result of looking for something else...

I had a flash of him having the side open as I read the piece. When they are on, it is enormously loud.

I actually saw a G5 live in the flesh for the first time the other day. I couldn't help stroking it, it looked so good (I must have looked a bit odd).

I didn't notice any fan sound, but then I was in a large noisy department store at the time. Fan noise (and other computer noise) can drive me mad at times.

If you want to get a G5's fans going, take out the plastic panel that lies behind the aluminum panel. The G5 has no problems diverting air flow with it in, but take it out and it'll sound like a diesel engine.

Two words: "invalidation" & "warranty". Go on, rearrange them a little, see what you get...
