åäö Problem With Ssh

I am a linuxuser and want to connect to my linuxserver with my ibook g4 (i use mac osx tiger on ibook). But when i start the terminal and run ssh to my server and open irssi (irc client) åäö wont work!
In windowsXP i used putty to connect to my server and I never had any åäö problems.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Can I use some other ssh client , because the one in tiger dont seems to work?

Use 'Terminal' application to ssh and anything you need a shell ... it's in Applications / Utilities folder.

And for those weird characters, change your shell to zsh.

Hi , i have changed the shell to zsh on the server but it still dont work , maybe there is some config file or something a have to modify?
