Hey there
Just got a new dual G5 and I'm installing software - yet everytime I dble click on the installer it says " The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges"

Now I have gone through sharing, get info on the drive and changed it to
You can: Read & write
Details
Owner: name
access: read & write
group: admin
access: read & write
otthers: read & write

it still does it..any one have any suggestions?

When you created a profile, did you set yourself up as the administrator? If not, you might want to, it'll save so many headaches in the future.

Is this your primary account? If so, you are already an admin and you should simply have to enter your account password. If not, you'll either have to make your account and admin account, or enter the name of the main account on your computer.

OS X requires an administrator's password to install software to prevent malicious use, especially for an application that affects the system. This is one of the reasons why there is no spyware and adware for OS X. In general, you shouldn't go changing all your permissions, because they are set the way they should be for a reason; you might want to run Disk Utility and fix your permissions.
