Access Widows Desktop Files from my MacBook Pro

Hello!

I have a windows desktop computer at my apt, which I use for storage. I am able to access my windows hard drives while I'm connected to the same server, but I would like to be able to access my hard drive even when I leave my apartment (ie work, out of state).

I'm really new to this so if there is anything that can give me a step by step configuration on the windows side, and the mac side, that would be wonderful!

Thanks!

If it's directly connected to the network, enable remote login for your account when you know you will need it (and make sure you have a good password) and just remote log in to your account.

Or if it's connected to a router etc, you may need to do some port forwarding to make e.g. everything on port 80 or 22 or 443 or depending on what you need to do and how to always connect to your PC.

Then from the Mac, just connect to the IP address and share, or use Windows RDP for Mac.
