Acid Search has buggered up Safari

Hi,

A little while ago I installed AcidSearch, as I was told it would allow me to personalize Safari's search function (I wanted to be able to search Youtube & Wikipedia, like I can in Firefox). Now when I try to open Safari, I get this error: The application Safari quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the AcidSearch plug-in.

I read online that I can uninstall AcidSearch by running the installer and selecting the uninstall option. But when I run the uninstaller, that option is not present. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall AcidSearch?

Thanks!

Oh, and by the way, I'm using the new Macbook Pro. I believe I've updated Safari too. I don't remember which version of Acid Search I installed, but I think it was the newest one.

New version is probably just incompatible, as it uses SIMBL i think. If updating to the newest AcidSearch does not work there is little to do but remove it. Sometimes you can open the package and edit one of the files in it to allow later versions of Safari but this fails as often as it succeeds.

As i a replacement I use Keywurl to allow me to search youtube and wikipedia straight from the address bar (i type "w thing" to search wikipedia for the word thing) and Keywurl does work with the newer safari I believe. It is free from http://alexstaubo.github.com/keywurl/ though if you like it I encourage you to donate.

To remove Acidsearch, I believe you can remove it from Library/Input Managers. Alternatively, it might be in your user account's Library, in the same subdirectory.

Thanks for the replies. I looked in library/input methods (there was no input managers) and it's empty. So I'm still not sure how to remove AcidSearch. I've already tried installing newer versions - no luck.

And thanks Ora, I'll try that program once I've got Safari back up and running.
