Active Directory and OS X

I have been trying for a while to configure OS X 10.1.x on my ibook to use the Active Directory service running on my Win2k server for user authentication.
I have been configuring and playing on and off with the Directory service tool on the Mac for quite while now. Has anybody here ever gotten this stuff to work?

I've not tried, but I noticed that the recent 10.1.3 upgrade mentioned improved support for Active Directory.

Yes, I read somewhere that 10.1.3 improves logon authentication via Active Directory...but how do I get the authentication via AD to work in the first place?

Apple has a document that gives a lot of detail on how to set up OS X with W2K Active directory. It is in the Mac OS X server area of their website. I would post the PDF file here, but it's about 1MB. I hope it will be helpful to you!
