I have recently joined my local college art & media department to tutor special needs students in digital art. Although they have basic computer skills the MACS are new to them , as a result (and because they have to save their work to their windows share area) they find manually setting up their share folder from windows difficult so I would like to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
I have successfully set up basic active directory authentication but I still need to map each students windows share area to the MAC desktop so it is easier for them to save their files in their windows user area.
I wanted to install admitmac but our ITS team have have refused on the bases of "no more money" + plus it has to go via discussion and that perhaps we could purchase it in April at the start of the new financial year.
However, spending 20 minutes or so each lesson going through GO=>connect to server, is wasting valuable learning time for my students.
Is there anyone out there that has successfully set this up in a lab enviroment and if so could share with me how they did it. We are using OS X 10.2
I would be eternally grateful
Thanks in advance
Nigel
