AddressBook Pictures Bug

I've been dealing with a bug in the AddressBook app lately. The app will occasionally refuse to "remember" pictures pasted into entries. They'll paste in the box beautifully & the "save" button seems to work. But upon re-opening the addressbook entry, the original picture or the empty white box is there.

I've noticed that changing the email address will allow a successful picture application. But of course, I can't ask my friends to change their email addresses whenever this happens.

Those that DO successfuly "stick" only appear in NEW emails received. Any emails from the sender received before the pictures is applied still shows up picture-less. This is no big deal, but could be improved upon.

Anybody else witness to this? Any tips?

This is an old thread, but I just found a solution and wanted to share.

I tried setting my email to have a picture, and was deciding which one to use. Just to see what it would do, I dragged a large picture onto my entry in the address book. I expected the Address Book to either compress or crop the image in question. For the curious, it compressed the image.

The problem was that I couldn't change it after that. Until (play the fanfare) I looked on Apple's support web pages. The page is here, btw.

Anyway, to make a long story shorter, find the image in ~/Library/Images/People and delete it. The image will have a .tiff extension, but the rest of the name wil be the email address you're looking for. Bliss! :D
