Adobe CS2 crashing

My OS is Tiger patched with 10.4.4 and when I install and run my Adobe CS2 it crashes to the desktop. Is there a fix for this or am I just missing something? I noticed also that it crashes when it's reading the font list during the splash screen of the CS2 application. By the way I'm a graphic designer and I install a lot of fonts in my font book. With the Adobe creative suite 1, I'm not having any of this problem regardless of how much font I install to my font book.

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like there might be a bad/corrupt font in there...try removing everything but the original fonts (from the OS install) and reboot, then see if it loads alright. The slowly start adding a few fonts at a time until you find the culprit.

Do you think if I used a third party font management software, it might help with my problem? If yes, could you suggest a good font management software that works well with Adobe CS2 products.

Thanks for the help!

It does sound like a font issue to me. I would suggest you use a third party font managment system. We use Suitcase X1 here and it works ok. Still get the odd issue but on the whole is a lot easier to use than font book.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the help guys! I'll try it out and update you if it works!

A lot of people like FontExplorerX, which is a free alternative to Suitcase.

Watch where you're getting fonts from in the future carefully. Not all suppliers (particularly free ones) are providing font files that are usable.

Make sure you never turn off Helvetica or Helvetica Neue...its required for certain apps and turning it off will make them (iCal, System Profiler, TextEdit, Safari, & Photoshop) crash and/or go crazy (buggy).
