Adobe releases beta of Photoshop CS3 Universal (English)

No I didn't put one in, I just downloaded and selected the option below entering a serial number which was 30 day trial.

That’s interesting. I should have looked more closely but I already had gotten the CS3 serial number by plugging my CS2 number into the other page so I didn’t even read the other info.

Does the beta expire at any length of time if one has a serial number?
 
And I have to say the new interface is nicely done. The docking of the palettes is nice. Should've been like that for years. I hope they get it right this time and these go through _all_ Adobe apps in Creative Suite. (In earlier versions, InDesign got old GoLive style palettes, whereas GoLive lost them...) I really like the interface of Photoshop 10. And its speed is nice as well. :)
 
The best feature for me is simply the native support. CS2 is very unstable for me (though PS is passable, it's Illustrator CS2 that gives me the most trouble)

anyway, I look forward to using this. I love the Smart Filter feature, allowing you to apply filters non-destrictively.

hopefully Illustrator and friends are not too far behind!
 
I've tried to download this beta three times from the Adobe web site on both my MacBook Pro and on a PC, and each time it stops and says "Finished" at 366MB...any ideas what's wrong?
 
Could it be you're using the same proxy on both computers? Sounds like the client (browser) thinks it has the right file, getting the non-finished file from the proxy or something...
 
Yeah, well I'm giving it a final shot now using Speed Download. If that doesn't work, what are my other options? :/
 
Alright it finally downloaded properly using Speed Download, but I'm stuck using the 2 day trial because my serial number won't work!

How did you put in the serial number? As one long number without hyphens?

Try hyphens, separating the number into 4 digit chunks, that’s the way the number appears on the original packaging. I had trouble till I did that.
 
I've tried it both with and without hyphens, no good. I've heard of a few users having the same problem.
 
It is FAAASSSTT. Loads sooo fast. I haven't got to view to see what new features might be in it or hidden, but it is terribly exciting.

I’m on a 15” Powerbook and it definitely loads much faster than Version 9, which is cool because I like to quit it when it’s not in use.
 
I’m not so impressed with the Quick Selection feature, it doesn’t seem all that much better than the magic wand but I’ve long preferred creating paths for making difficult selections.

The Zoomify export will be very useful for product images.
 
I wonder if they're using CoreImage for the non-destructive filters or if it's their own way of doing it.
