AFP Syntax Problem!!

To whom it may concern...
I recently performed a clean install on my G5 and I lost my AFP syntax settings that connect my G5 to the three other computers on my small local network. I can remember some of the syntax: aft://othercomputer:* but I'm not sure about the symbols after the target computer on my network. I can access my TiG4 PowerBook & Dell 5150 using the Network Icon on my Side Bar... but I also have a G4 running OS9 which I can't access using the Network access but I was able to access by inputing the computers name into the Command K "Connect to Server" dialog box.... anyone got any idea on what I'm doing wrong in the AFP syntax. Apple Talk is turned on.

In OS 9 Sharing Prefs, do you have "Allow Users to connect using TCP/IP" checked/On?
Are you using Tiger 10.4? Tiger no longer has the ability to connect for file sharing using appletalk. (it uses AFP over TCP/IP, port 548) Try this: afp://IP_Address_of_OS_9.

Cheers for the tip off... I'm now able to access my OS9 G4 computer which is great... at least I can access my network now fully... but I would still love to know what the syntax I had in the AFP box was before I did my clean install as the syntax you gave me won't work either.... as far as I can remember the syntax was afp://PowerMac_G4:* something like that.... the colon and astrix at the end are where I'm going wrong.... does anyone know the correct symbols to be inserted here.... this is how I have accessed my other computers now since over 4 years ago.... Yes the network accesss works... but it's so bugging me that I cannot get the Command K access to work as it did before... not using IP address numbers... but with the computers names....

Please advise...

Yours sincerely
