So, I was modifying my preferences in AIM, when I saw this..... take a real good look. What is wrong with this picture? (See attached file)

"Click here for bad ass icons?"

Click on it, and your browser is then taken to http://www.badassbuddy.com/

Excuuuuuuuuuse me? Granted, I know I'm no saint, but why on earth is there cussing in a piece of software made by a large company? .... Does anybody else think this is odd? Or is it just me?

Brand name recognition. They aren't swearing intentionally. They are just stating the name of the company that creates the icons. AOL has probably found they are most popular among AIM users and decided to incorporate them. Bad ass could translate as simply as bad donkey. ;)

Programmers have nothing better to do during their coffee break?

:D i think you're close cheryl. i'd say programmers have nothing better to do while they finsh putting in the last half hour of the day before they can go home. :p

no, let's face it, programmers often have a pretty dull time making these kinds of things. the need to insert humorous stuff like this has got to be therapeutic to them. i am sure they need something to laugh at after trying to fix the same error for the umpteenth time.

and then there is the fact that this is aol software which means the original source code was probably lifted from open source and they were just too lazy to change it. or didn't catch it
