Airport base station alternatives?

Hi - I've got an Airport enabled iBook G4 (Osx 10.3.9), but no base station. Have moved to South America where the authentic Mac station is mind-buggeringly expensive. Anyone tried any alternatives (missing manual mentions www.maxgate.net and www.xsense.com), and if so, are they any good?
Thanks,

Basically, you can use any WiFi base station that has 802.11b/g. The only thing is they might be a tad difficult to set up. Most use a web-based administration, which is fine. Not as comfortable as Apple's solution, but it works. And once you've set up the base station, you don't have to configure much. Just make sure you don't forget the admin password. ;) (My first WiFi router was set up by me and a year later, I had *NO* idea about the pw anymore...)

Most wireless routers/access points will work fine. Dlink, Netgear and Linksys are all are well known brands (i've had both linksys and netgear products, both worked but i preferred the netgear).

Thanks. I might resort to a long-distance ebay moment and try and save a few groats that way.
Cheers for your help,

I have a Netgear also, no problems, simple to setup.

Forget the password, just reset the router to it's default settings.
