Airport Extreme WDS help?

Hello all!

This is my first post, and i'm a novice at most of this stuff, so go easy on my ok? The basic problem is...

I have a Netgear Wireless Router WGR614, with a Pbook wireless connected, A sony Vaio wirelessly connected, and a PC connected wired through the 4 port router. I recently purchased an Airport Extreme Base module, and an Airport Express w/ airtunes so i can stream my music. Basically, I want to use the Airport Extreme Base with WDS, so i can extend the range of my Wireless Network, so that my wired network i kept intact, considering i have more computers to connect to the netgear router,a nd the airport extreme only has 2 ports! Could anybody please tell me how to get the WDS configured, and if that works, will my Airport Express be able to run WDS as well from the Airport Extreme, seeing as it only supports the airport extreme for WDS?

Sorry for this long and wordy post.. i'm just really frustrated with trying to get it to work... Thanks for your time and concern,

Josh

I'm not an expert at this, but I have a vaguely similar system.

My first thought is that you have too many wireless bits that may conflict with sending DHCP addresses.

I would suggest that the simplest way to set it up is to abandon the Netgear router and replace it with a hub/switch (pretty cheap). Connect all your wired stuff to the through the hub, then to the Airport Extreme Base, then to a modem.

I tried the hub between the AE Base and the modem but it didn't work. Your current set up is similar to this, isn't it? With the wired stuff downstream of the AE.

Alternatively can the Netgear see the Airport Express? If so, do you need the AE Base?

Where's an expert when you need one? :)

Thanks for the reply, I think i can set the netgear itself to act as a switch without assigning it's own ip addresses to computer's connected in the network, so maybe that will work, thanks!
