Airport Firewall and a PC

With the recent worm, could someone explain how, if at all, the built-in firewall that is reportedly on my Airport Extreme works?

Does it work from the Base station or from each computer on the wireless network?

If on the base station, how can you configure the ports to allow some incomming access, like Timbuktu and VPN?

Sorry for the basic question, but if I hammer my wife´s PC (again), you have no idea the trouble I face.

thanks

Sorry, I don't have an AptExt. Hope you have some documentation. The firewall on the base station prevents incoming requests for access from the outside (the WAN side). If left on, the firewall on any computer would stop access from within the local net (the LAN side). You need to find out which TCP ports Timbuktu and VPN need, then there is probably some setting tab for the Airport like "Open Ports" where you tell the router which computer receives the specified port request.

Airport Admin has a "port forwarding" option. I'm not sure if it will let you leave certain ports open (most router/firewalls don't allow this) instead you pick the ports you want and tell the AP to forward incoming requests to a specfic IP address on the LAN.
