Airport in the new eMac

I assume everyone knows about the new eMac? http://www.apple.com/education/emac

Well, if you have a look at the positioning of the AirPort slot, you may immediately notice where the problem is.

As a high school student, I know first hand what students do to computers that aren't their own.

The AirPort card will be pulled out! Flip down the CD door, and that's it. Easy *yoink* There goes an AirPort card. I know Apple put it there for easy access to tech guys/gals, but that also makes it easy to be stolen. Surely they MUST ahve put SOMETHING in to prevent theft.

You're very right. That was not a smart move by Apple .. although Most high-schools/colleges will have these things lined up and plugged into an ethernet thing anyhow as it's much cheaper.

That's really stupid! Either make Airport onboard (which would increase the price) or make it as *difficult* to access as on any other Mac, than you could protect it, but this is stupid, I mean, why would you have to have an AIrport card to be easily accessible (apart from maybe a notebook)?

Not a wise move.

Apple, Apple, what's wrong with you? First the catastrophic Ethernet port on the TiBook, now that...:D

After taking another look on it, it can't be as easy as it is shown, since if you would just plug the airport card in, it would have no antenna! The round hole in the middle of the airport cards back is where you have to attach the antenna connector...

So I guess you still have to put something in front of the airport card, enclosing it from the outside world, which would make it a bit harder to steal since you can't just pull it out...
