Airport Internet Connection Problem

I recently expanded my Airport Extreme base station's signal range by hooking it up to Airport Express. The signal is stronger and is accessible in all areas of my house, which wasn't the case earlier. The problem is that every 24 hours or so the internet connection kicks out and I can only get it back by unplugging the base station, waiting a few minutes and then plugging it back in. When this happens the wireless signal remains strong and all the lights on my cable modem function as they should but I can't get on line. I am using the latest Airport software as well as the latest version of OS X.

Any ideas as to what's causing this and what I can do about it?
