Hi,
I'm a newbee to my 17" powerbook. I have the following set up and I need to be able to use my laptop in other rooms:

2 macs and a PC running winXp on a small ethernet network.

I need to be able to remove my laptop from this network and be able to still connect to it as normal in other rooms as this network has the PC sharing an isdn dial up account and a satellite broadband modem - what's the range I can get from an airport and what items do I need to purchase to make this happen?

thanks in advance.

:)

Your best bet, and by far the most convenient, is to get an Airport Extreme base station. The 17PB already has the airport extreme card in it.

You could also set up an airport link to your existing mac, but it would need to have an airport card installed in it, and will need to leave the other mac on all the time in order to use the laptop, which is an annoyance.

The range is about 25-75 metres, though it can be improved with the addition of an antenna.

as longas you've got a wireless router that has like 4 ports on it as well, you can keep the 2 macs/1 pc in the room with the router (plugged in to the router), and then you can just take your pb anywhere you want in the house.

this is basically the setup that I've got (3 pcs - 1 of which is linux, an imac, and my pb). I can share and see everything.

linksys has 802.11g wireless routers for like 150, and the 11b wifi routers are only about 70.

check em out. they're cheaper then airport xtreme, and do everything you will need.
