Airport or generic network for 2 macs & a PC

I want to network our household computers (2 LCD iMacs and an HP) to share the same broadband connection and printer. My question is this...would I be better off buying an Airport base station, 2 airport cards, and a Linksys (sp) card for the HP, or Linksys networking hardware, and 2 airport cards for the macs, and then having to fool around with the macs a bit more to get them up? I'm leaning towards airport, but I dont know how easy it is to get a PC (Win XP) running on an Airport network...and the price isn't looking too hot, when compared to Linksys products for HALF the price that are rated well. Any suggestions/advice?

Go with the Links wireless Router. If you have any problems getting the Macs online and sharing, just post the problem here and you'll get help.

Thanks bobw. I know nothing about networking whatsoever....in order to share my printer among all 3 machines, I just have to get a router with a USB port to plug my printer into, correct?

about that printer stuff, you may want to look into it. i had a router with a printer port but i had to install special software that was windows only so my computer would recognize it. good luck.

I have a similar setup: 2 Macs and a PC. I went with Airport and simply plugged in the PC via an ethernet cable. No problem whatsoever with the PC, neither in Windows 98 nor in RedHat 8.

The manual and documentation that come with Airport are quite useful and will help you setup your network.

If you go with the Linksys, I don't think the Macs will be hard to set up. AFAIK a lot of Macusers (also on this forum) went with Linksys because it is cheaper.
