Airport + Rendezvous not working right

It seems that Rendezvous isn't quite behaving when I connect via Airport to the campus network. I can hit Command-K in the Finder and check the Local group and see the other wireless users with sharing enabled just fine. But when I try to connect to one, it times out after a couple of seconds with an odd message:

Connecting to unknown_address...

An error has occurred (error = -36).

In addition, using the Rendezvous section of Safari's bookmarks results in a similar failure

Connecting over standard wired ethernet works just fine, though.

Do I have some really stupid misconfiguration that I'm overlooking?

Dear David,

Is your Airport software and Airport Hub Firewire up-to-date?

Current version is 3.1.1, and yes, non-Extreme users can use this software. I do.

You first update your computer with the latest Airport software. Restart. The using the Airport admin utility, log on to the Airport hub. Usually, the hub tells you that a new software firewire is now available, do you want to upload. Click Yes.

Hopefully, this is your problem, but if you are up-to-date, I am sorry to say, I have no idea what your problem is... ::alien::

Yeah, I've got the latest drivers on my system. These are university access points, so I'm not sure what they have, though.
