What are my options for a third party wi-fi card/device for my MacBook Pro. I voided the warranty when I replaced my Superdrive with a second HD.

My airport card quit a few days after I removed the SuperDrive, so I must have accidently done something. Checked the connectors and they appear to be solid. The info you gave was exactly what I was looking for ... Thanks!

You might want to check and see if those work with Mac OS X. I'm almost positive that the QuickerTech one does, but not the others.

I saw the QuickerTek solutions online and was intrigued because one worked with the Airport software, but could not find hardly any user reviews -- the few I did warned about staying away from the company, as they do not do returns if the product doesn't work and really mixed results on the product itself.

I ordered the Mvix Nubbin, a USB product, because of generally good reviews and the fact that its tiny.

In retrospect I'm sorry I cracked my MacBook Pro open. Have done so with many computers over the years, but didn't have a great reason to do so here -- just wanted to get a little more speed, and more of a want than a need.

Well you could just buy an airport card off of ebay and see if that fixes the problem.
