The situation:
I have a problem with the airport signal dropping out. It was unstable for a while. Yesterday i installed the latest update ( "AirPort Extreme Driver" (3.4.2) which says to address the problem of "instability during memory intensive situations". But now the connection is even worse.
When a signal failure happens, sometimes i cannot find the base station and have to do a hard reset the get the base station working.
Connection failures happen when i check my mail (several accounts at the same time), norton updates only after several tries, some times i cannot reach a site, because suddenly my signal drops out.
The situation was stable for months. I haven't changed the location of the base station (no telephones, radios, tvs or whatever that moved closer to my base station, i live in the country, no neighbours or broadcast stations nearby )
Things i tried:
-I updated the software
-I reset the base station several times (a "hard" reset, 15 secs)
-I set the base station "interference robustness"
-I set the channel to automatic
At this moment the base station has the default settings (see the settings below).
i use
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme
Wireless Card Locale: Worldwide
Wireless Card Firmware Version: 3.4.2b1 (3.50.37.p4)
Current Wireless Network: Apple Network ec26fa
Wireless Channel: 10
airport extreme base station firmware version: 5.4
The question:
how can i set up a stable configuration?
Is the problem on the base station side or on the computer side and how can i test that?
