alert sound on log in

Everytime I login an alert sound is made but I don't know what is causing it. No box comes up and only the finder is running.

What is the best way of checking this out. The sound is not made when others log in - so it is related to this user.

Thanks in advance.

open the application at /Applications/Utilities/Console.app

See if anything unusuall shows up in there. console.app checks system error logs at
/var/log/system.log

post anything interesting, please.

The console apps shows no error, but the process viewer shows an application utilizing up to 97% of the processor at times. Other processes will begin and the offender will drop down in percent usage but always remain. it does not show up in the force quit menu either. I'm baffled.

Try and figure out what that application is which uses 97% of your cpu for a short while.

Do you have any 'docklings' or other things which automatically load when you login (check the login panel in system preferences - docklings aside, it should show any programs which defaultly load)

That does it,

It seems to be the Kensington mouseworks background app loaded at login that causes the beep and the use of the processor. I will look for some info on it.

Thanks,
Raul
