analog AV-in > output over firewire (PB G3 500) possible?

maybe i just want something strange,
but here's what:

i have an iRez pcmcia-card for analog video-in
on my powerbook G3.
now i'd like to output the analog-video signal
over the firewire port,
to feed it into my powerbook G4..
Would this be possible?

For me it would be the only solution to get the analog
signal into the pbG4 in OSX, as the iRez card is not supported
on that machine, and neither in osX..

anyone?

It could be possible, I think! If you manage to use TCP/IP over firewire and run a video-streaming tool on your G3 powerbook...
But for streaming you might need an encoder. This will cost a lot of performance which your G3 powerbook might not have...
Just few ideas for you. Am not sure if that would really work

Would be possible through some fancy software, but I don't believe that software exists. The best way is getting an analog-DV converter.

zammy:
yes i thought of that too, and 100Mbit would be just fine, so no need for using the firewire port in that case..and the encoding software wouldn't have to do so much work, just convert to DV (± 4MB/sec).

Is there b.t.w. any other software for streaming video under os9, other that sorensen-broadcaster?

ksv:
yes, that's what i mean; software to emulate a sony DV-cam on the firewire port or someting.. so that the 2nd computer thinks a camera i hooked up..
doesn't exist?

Arri, maybe we can help out eachother. I have a pc with a tv card plugged. And I also have a wireless lan router.
My idea some time ago was to stream the video encoded from my pcs tv card into the lan and capture it wireless on my tibook. Do you think the 802.11b is fast enough? And do you have a clue what software (freeware) I could use?
PC: WinXP
tibook: 10.3.3
I tried with vlc, but I didn't succeed.

Btw, vlc/vls is not available for macos 9?

The question is if you need to do it in realtime. If that's not a requirement, you can just capture the analog video as usual and stream it as DV to the FireWire port through "Print to video" in FCP. I believe it's possible in iMovie, too.
