Well, uhh, okay. If that floats your boat. This would be something for a third party programmer to muck around with, as there wouldn't be too much demand for it and it is hard to justify asking Apple to do it.

You could use a program like xBack to run a screensaver on the desktop. Combine that with SaveHollywood and you can put video on the desktop. You'll want a bit of power, though, and it is awfully distracting and doesn't really achieve much.

If it is possible to put animations into PDFs (I don't know) then that might work, since you can actually set a PDF as a desktop background (strange but true!).

Oh, and by-the-way Wiz, you might want to use a more descriptive heading if you're starting a new thread somewhere, and leave it open for others to contribute. For example "Gimmicks I'd like to see on OS X".
 
I read that in the 10.2 new features list... I dont know if I could stand a animated background... I guess time will tell...
