Annoying Mail quirk

I am using Mail(2.07) to access our mainframe's Exchange mail server. My Trash always shows exactly 10 pieces of trash, regardless of the actual content. While this is not a real problem, it is midlyy annoying. Anyone have any idea of why this is happening, and how to sopt it?
