Hello

Just noticing the new forums being put up, I asked Ed if a business one would be possible... i.e. all things related to business (starting-up, law, etc.)

Anyway, Ed told me to post the query here, to guage interest.

Whadaya think?
 
Business law, I don't think that would be a good idea. Too much wrong information could be generated. Laws are different in each state. This info can be had at each states web site, or by contacting the state you're in, for the correct info.

A forum for starting a business, and business specific software wouldn't be a bad idea.
 
By business law, I mean general i.e. copyright, trademark, since this is international law. Also, not all of us are Stateside ;)

If someone comes in here from the UK asking for advice about a client not paying, I'm sure to be able to point them in the right direction, and so on.

Laws are different in each state? What about COUNTRIES? :) Please think international.

I'm all for something like 'business ideas'. Of course you wouldn't want to tell the world your great ideas, right? But haven't you come up with something you won't do yourself, anyway? I have, several times.
 
i swear every time i dream up an idea for new shareware and post it here, it's on versiontracker a week later. :p
 
Further to this idea (the forum category, not Ed's shareware)...

Over time there have been questions popping up about business on this forum, but they normally end up in the Cafe...

I feel a forum that had strong reference values for future viewing/users would be helpful.
 
how would people feel about a mac os x games forum? there are many more games for osx than the last time the site had this forum.
 
I don't see a need for a business forum... It doesn't seem to fit in with the theme of the site.

I wouldn't mind seeing a gaming forum, but honestly, I don't see the demand for it on this site either. I could be wrong, because there are a few popular games ported for Mac... i.e. Civ III, AOE, etc.

If we did do gamming, we would have to offer tips, tricks and cheat codes on evey game... which is being done (and done very well I might add) on other sites.

I think the time for a game forum has come. There are some great FPS games out for OSX (Medal of Honor, Soldier of Fortune, Ghost Recon) we're not just confined to RPG's and Tetris anymore. And while there are other sites out there already offering this, I don't really know of any that are OSX exclusives. I went nuts just a few weeks ago trying to find out if the newly released expansion pack for Medal of Honor was also going to be available for OSX. (As a matter of fact even after an e-mail to EA Games, I still don't know!)
