I do know that Steve Jobs was/will be a part of any second round financing for Segway. Don't know if that second round happened yet. Rumor is that he wanted to invest something to the tune of $60 million.
Haven't heard any substantial evidence of Apple Computer, Inc. being an investor, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.
It would not surprise me in the slightest if Apple Computer was investing in this company, although it can't be major, since IT is not up to the "cool" standards of Jobs(appearance wise). The technology, however, is very Apple in its sense of unappreciated technological marvel.
When financial analysts say "Apple has 2 billion in the bank" that means that Apple has 2 million invested in many various areas. It allows them to get the best return with the least amount of damage from crashing sectors. Remember those quarters where Apple would have been in the red, had it not sold millions of shares of ARM? That was an investment made many years ago. I wouldn't blink an eye if apple is selling millions of shares of Segway 10 years down the road.
