AOL what's that? I need browser & mail help

I am new to this forum and it appears that the only reason no one has mentioned any problems with AOL is that no one uses it. I have been a Mac addict since it's birth in 1984 when one was forced to do the "dance of the 400K floppies". I have had several Mac's since and just recently replaced my G3 with the 15" iMac, 800, Superdrive, Jaguar. I have been using AOL for the last seven years but now with the new Mac and the availability of so many browser and mail choices, its time to make some changes.Acually, I have AOL to thank due to its inability to work effectivtly with Jaguar, even with their latest version 8.0. So,I shall be getting cable next month and I would like some guidance as to what browsers and e-mail programs would create a smooth, well somewhat smooth, intergrated internet system. I am considering Apple's .mac to complement the new broadband connection as a start but any suggestions would be welcomed. By the way I do have, not installed yet, Microsoft Office v.x which has the familiar and proven Entourage X e-mail program. I must admit that with only one week with OSX and 17 years with the familiar and predictable, fixable old Mac OS there is an uncomfortable learning curve one has to drive through. I know it shall be worthwhile but damm it, I used to know where everything was especially those pesky extentions. So, what do you think?. IE(boo), NN, Mozilla, Chimera, Endora, iCab, Omniweb, Opera, Entourage??? Help.

i would suggest omniweb for starters, particularly if you are feeling overwhelmed. it's a good idea to keep ie or netscape around for the few problem sites you might encounter. personally i prefer icab, but i admit it takes some tweeking fo the prefs to make it shine. the majority of people seem to like chimera for the speed but there are sacrifices for it.

stick with the learning. if you haven't already - go to www.versiontracker.com and get ASM if you want to be able to keep that old habit of reaching for the upper right corner to switch open apps :p

and yea, i've done the floppy swap, so i'll reassure you once more that os x is worth the relearning. just cuss unix a few times to keep your sanity when feeling frustrated. :D
