Group,
I have seen the other links on this (particularly the similarly named one with Linksys instead of AP-500. I have tried all the tricks ("" and $) all to no avail. The ibook with Airport (2.1.1) works fine with no wep, won't work with wep (either 40 or 128). I even tried to set up an add-hock network (on advice from #macosxhints IRC), it worked fine. I set up the mac as a peer-to=peer network station and connected with my win2k running a lucent gold card. That worked great with 40 and 128 bit wep. I did need to set the mac password up as "this1" format and use plain this1 format on the win2k box. So, I am convinced that my Airport -> AP-500 problem is still related to the quotes. The docs say that 2.1.1 doesn't need to play the "" and $ game. I have tried all permutations with ascii and hex keys, no luck. Anyone out there run into this and have any tricks...
I am out of ideas, links, and help docs...
Frustrated new mac user.
