GOAL:
=====
I would like to use some form of Remote Desktop to access my Apple TV from my laptop. It would be nice to be able to control music played through the ATV, that is hooked up to the Bose system.

BACKGROUND
==========
I found the procedure to install VNC on ATV here:

http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/index.php?title=Enable_Remote_Desktop_%28VNC%29

I am not sure if the Apple 1.1 update they are referring to is the OS or the Apple TV application. The ATV software version is 3.0.2. If it is the OS, then it is necessary to determine if the Apple 1.1 update is installed on the ATV: how would this be done. I tried this:

-
bash-2.05b$ uname -a
Darwin appletv 8.8.2 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.2: Mon Jan 29 18:57:29 PST 2007; root:xnu-792.94.18~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386

QUESTIONS
=========

What is the CLI command that returns OS update info? An example would be appreciated.

Is there a test (perhaps a file) that will allow me to determine if AppleVNCServer is present?

Actionable suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
