Apple and NASA

An article from Macteens.com (which can be seen here.

And here is the actual NASA site which goes into details on the experiment.

NOTE: What's weird is that on the NASA site, the machines tested were running Mac OS X 10.2.7...

well the whole point of the G5 is that it is specially designed as a dual processor system.

Well if you can run an inter-continental ballistic missile with a bunch of PlayStation 2's (remember that story?!) then you can probably run a space programme with a G5! Rip out all those big clunky desks with the cinema screen at mission control and swap 'em for a G5 with twin 24" flatscreens. Yeah boy! :D

Actually he said that the G5 was running 10.2.7 (Smeagol?) which is the special Jaguar build for the G5s. Nothing weird there.

Also, that is not a NASA site. It's Craig's personal website. Note the url. A NASA site would end in "nasa.gov".

Here's a story Apple ran on Craig a while back.

I attended the Mac OS X Administration Basics class with Craig. He's a pretty cool guy. He was showing me all the UNIX tricks, and I was showing him all the Mac OS X tricks. Basically the "defaults write..." commands used to enable hidden features and such, because it was driving him nuts trying to figure out how I got my Terminal windows semi-transparent (this was back when we were still at 10.0.x).
