apple and speech recognition?

macrumors sniffed out some new apple patents.. (here and here) could this have anything to do with iPod 2? or mabye this new plastic enclosure macwispers was talkin about. Im thinkin way too much about the new iPod, but I wonder? Sounds like Apple is coming up with a really advanced speech recognition system though. What are you guys' thoughts?

Looks like regular hearing aid patents, or noise cancelling devices, or "electronic sound zoom".

Lord I hope not. I'd feel dumb as hell talking to a computer. As if my social life weren't lacking enough...

I stopped using speech recognition after Mac OS 8.1. Not because it didn't work, but because my computer listened to my wife more than me.

the only way speech recognition works is if there is a camera involved that reads lips
