Has Apple ever had a POS solution out there? Even before the mac came out? I've heard the Apple Stores use some in house form but nothing out there really is that terrific. Our stores used a few different variations that used FM a few years back. Maybe some of the database corruption issues are fixed with FM 7 but we had a heck of a time and the CC terminals and debit card and swipe card coupon cards soft solutions really weren't up to par with those from the other guys. But the worst thing is that some of the big accounting apps just were not there. Unless I could find something from Great Plains, MAS/Peachtree or some other 20k software package they could care less. We even had BigBiz come buy one year and some other start up but the bean counters just laughe. And until those bean counters are happy I really don't think we are going to make make to many more inroads in Business. 10 years ago it was a lot easier to go to our accountant and say, I really need this Quadra 840av and they would look at you and with a little prodding you could get it. Now, they go to the IT guys and they say no way. So, either Apple needs to pay off the bean counters or the IT guys with their cushy jobs waiting for the next Windows machine to break... or thats all they wrote. I would love to see an Apple logo at Walmart or at our bank one day, but alas I think I'll be looking at NEC, IBM and DELL logos for a while longer.
