Apple Care, after purchase?

Great! I didn't get it cause I don't have money for it, but I'd like to get it half a year don the line or so...

You can buy it within 12 months of the purchase.

If you live in European Union, you get 24 months of warranty. The Apple Care still has to be purchased within the first 12 months of purchase.

Why do you want that ? I don't see any use of it... the first year is under warranty, and then the computer is not worth it anymore... or am I wrong ?

Its good if you have one that is problematic like my sister's ibook. She's sent it to apple twice in the first year. She just bought it.

chwevy, a computer isn't an item that you buy once a year and then can't use it any more because it's obsolete. well, maybe some pcs are, but I think that 24 month legal warranty is great.

My experience with Apple is that they last forever. If you have problems, they will happen during the first year. So the warranty is good.

But then I wouldn't pay 10-20% of the value of my computer each year to maintain it alive. If it dies, I would prefer to buy a new one.

According to the Apple Store out here in Tokyo, the extended Apple Care warranty is also transferable with the sale of your old computer to the buyer so that does have some added value if you plan to sell your computer before the 3 year mark.

Cheers.

Apple <=> Toyota. Both last very long, though they may have problems. My dad's 1986 Camry, which I currently drive, has almost 400,000 miles on it, and it's still running quite well. However, I seem to have punched a hole in the muffler, which is covered by a lifetime warranty, so that is something that needs fixing.

Macs are much the same: you can have a 5 or 6 year old computer that runs the latest software quite well, but something can go wrong that needs fixing. Applecare is basically an extendable warranty.

I can tell you... if my daughter is driving your Toyota, it will not live forever !

BTW 400'000 miles, that's a lot ! It's like using a Mac Plus... which I do sometimes.
