Apple Cinema display with Dell Laptop - DVI KVM

Hey guys,
I am a PC Tech and I have owned my G5 for a while now. I bought a DVI KVM so that I can hook up my Dell laptop to the Cinema display for work. The KVM is made by Gefen. I did a lot of research before I got it to make sure it will work. It says it should. I also got a VGA-DVI adapter so it can hook up to the laptop. I cannot seem to get this working at all. When I output the video from the laptop to the Cinema display, it just shows a black screen. Any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.
 
It could depend on what screen resolution output the lap top supports. If you have a large cinema display it might not work because of this.

Im pretty sure i wouldnt be able to get the large display to work with my 12 inch pBook because it doesnt have a large enough screen resolution output.

This could be completly wrong because i dont know that much at all
